A couple of years ago I found this little "quote", (although I cannot technically call it a quote if I cannot find someone to attribute it to, now can I), which I think really sums up my way of thinking... as sad, scary, and pathetic as that is :)
"A Policy Analyst is someone unethical enough to be a Lawyer, impractical enough to be a Theologian, and pedantic enough to be an Economist".
...and we wonder why the government is in so much trouble all the time.... :)
needless to say, my favourite tv series' ever made would have to be Yes, Minister! and Yes, Prime Minister! Although that's perhaps were any entertainment credibility ends with me.
I also am no longer ashamed to admit that i love the Police Academy movies (except Mission to Moscow, because who does), Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Hudson Hawk, Beetlejuice - i.e. anything somewhat daggy.
I love my animation, but none of that Japanese stuff - the big eyes and out of sync laughter just gets to me. I was disappointed a few years back to discover that Astro Boy wasnt as great as i remembered it was when i was 5.
I grew up with the Simpsons, as many people my age did, and as a result, i dont think i can go a few hours without hearing something that is simpsons related. More recently, its been Family Guy and American Dad.
And the music cred isnt much better i'm afraid. I've been through the "daggy 80s dance around the room like a nutbag", to the "omg, kylie and girlfriend are like, so awesome" stage, to the "oh woe is me, no body understands me, i'm going to listen to sad depressing music and be sad and depressed" phase (aka teenage years), and have decided to settle on the simple philosophy of "if it has a good beat, or a good chorus, or makes me smile like a tool in traffic, then i'll bop to it" phase. I'm happiest here.
If i've learnt nothing else in this lifetime its to be a dag, and enjoy doing it!
